SEO Core (Lite)

Everything WordPress needs for SEO. Nothing it doesn’t.

Low-overhead SEO that outputs the essentials: titles, meta descriptions, canonicals, robots directives, OG/Twitter cards, basic schema, and a lean sitemap — without the bloat, dashboards, or “SEO scores.”

Quiet by design: install once, configure in minutes, and mostly forget it. Does not modify content, URLs, or your database structure.

✅ Essentials only ✅ Core-safe canonical/robots ✅ Lean /sitemap.xml
Get SEO Core (Lite) View Docs Built for shared hosting. No tracking. No front-end scripts.
Low overhead
No UI bloat, no scanning, no scores. Outputs only what you actually need.
Core-safe output
Robots + canonical use WordPress core filters to avoid duplicates.
Lean sitemap
Lightweight /sitemap.xml endpoint with caching and exclusions.

Who This Is For

  • Blog owners who want correct SEO output without the noise.
  • WooCommerce shops that want clean canonicals and to keep cart/checkout/account out of sitemaps.
  • Builders who don’t want an SEO plugin trying to “run the site” or inject UI everywhere.
  • Anyone tired of heavy SEO plugins for simple needs.

What You Get

Titles (template + overrides)
Set a global template like %title% – %sitename%, and override per post/page in the editor.
Meta descriptions that make sense
Custom description → excerpt → default description → site tagline. Clean length trimming included.
Robots (no duplicates)
Uses wp_robots filter to set index/noindex and follow/nofollow — avoids duplicate meta tags.
Canonical cleanup (no duplicates)
Uses get_canonical_url filter, supports per-page override, and can strip common tracking params.
Open Graph + Twitter
Adds OG/Twitter tags. Uses featured image if available, otherwise the site logo.
Basic schema (JSON-LD)
WebSite, Organization, Article, BreadcrumbList. Optional org name/logo overrides.
Lean sitemap + robots.txt sitemap line
/sitemap.xml includes posts/pages only, excludes noindex items and common system pages (cart/checkout/account/offline). Cached via transient and auto-busted on content changes.

How It Works (In Plain English)

  1. Turn it on. Defaults are sane.
  2. Set your title template once.
  3. Only override SEO fields on posts/pages that actually need it.
  4. Submit /sitemap.xml to Search Console and move on.
Design goal: Provide the essentials with minimal overhead — and stay out of your way.

Compatibility

  • WordPress: Uses standard actions/filters and core SEO hooks.
  • WooCommerce: Excludes cart/checkout/my-account from the sitemap by default.
  • Other SEO plugins: Best practice is one SEO owner. If another plugin already outputs tags, disable it or choose one.
  • LinkLens Product SEO: Built-in “stand-down” so Product SEO can own the head on its product page(s).

FAQ

Does it add “SEO scores” or content recommendations?
No. It outputs correct essentials and keeps overhead low.
Will it create duplicate canonical or robots tags?
Canonical and robots are applied via WordPress core filters to avoid duplicate tags.
Why a “lite” sitemap instead of a full sitemap index?
This plugin is intentionally minimal: posts + pages, cached, and safe defaults. It’s meant to cover the basics cleanly.
I don’t see /sitemap.xml — what do I do?
Visit Settings → Permalinks and click Save (flush rewrite rules). Then reload /sitemap.xml.
